Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. has introduced its first model in Brazil, the flagship Emgrand EC7 sedan.

The Chinese carmaker will assemble the EC7 in Uruguay from partly welded and pre-painted components imported from China.

Cars will be produced by contract assembler Nordex SA in a facility with annual capacity to make a combined 20,000 units. Geely indicates the factory will eventually also produce the EC7-RV five-door hatch, GC2 midsize sedan and GX2 minicar.

The plant in Uruguay also will supply those models to Argentina, according to the company.
