GAZ Appoints NEW CEO

Russia's OAO GAZ has named Vadim Sorokin president and CEO. He succeeds Bo Andersson, who became CEO at Lada-maker OAO AvtoVAZ on Dec. 31.

Sorokin, who began his new assignment on Jan. 1, joined GAZ in 2008. Most recently he headed the truckmaker's flagship light commercial vehicles division.

GAZ also has named Gunther Heiden to the newly created post of chief operating officer. Heiden previously was COO of SPM, a global supplier of automotive interior and exterior components.
