Japan’s Fujitsu Ltd. says it has developed a more precise and reliable cybersecurity technology that minimizes false positive results.
The new platform includes point-of-entry, in-vehicle network and control unit safeguards. Automatic updates can be downloaded wirelessly from a remote server to protect against new threats, according to the company.
Current cybersecurity systems identify potential threats based on deviations from the frequency and length of standard message transmissions received over a vehicle’s control area network (CAN) bus, which can lead to a high number of false positives. Fujitsu says its system learns normal deviations and can identify real threats within milliseconds.
During a recent test, the system identified all 10,000 simulated attacks in real time without generating a false positive. Fujitsu aims to commercialize the system in its next fiscal year, which starts April 1.
