The organizers of the Formula E electric race series have released photos and a video of the next-generation model.

The futuristic Batmobile-like design will be used for three seasons, starting with the 2018/2019 campaign that will kick off in December. Specifications will be announced when the vehicle is publicly unveiled at the Geneva auto show in March.

Along with the Gen2 chassis, all teams will use an improved common battery. The new battery is said to provide twice the capacity and driving range of the current unit, which will allow drivers to complete a race without having to swap vehicles halfway through.

The fourth race of the current season will be held this weekend in Santiago, Columbia. Mahindra Racing is leading the 10-team field, which also includes entries from Audi, Citroen, Jaguar, NextEV and Renault.
