Longtime communications executive Julie Hamp has been appointed chairman of Motus One Parking Management Services LLC, an event transportation specialist.
Hamp became Toyota Motor Corp.’s first female managing officer in April 2015. She resigned a few months later after being arrested for illegally importing a narcotic painkiller to Japan.
Hamp previously headed Toyota’s communications efforts in North America and held a series of communications jobs for General Motors Co. She also served as global chief communications officer for PepsiCo Inc.
At Motus One, Hamp will oversee the company's strategy, development, staffing and training. The position reunites her with CEO Mike Jackson, who was GM’s vice president of advertising and marketing in North America during Hamp’s tenure with the carmaker.
Founded in 2000, Motus One has dual headquarters in Troy, Mich., and Los Angeles. The company has some 200 employees worldwide.
Hamp will continue to serve as a senior advisor to Hawksbill Group, a Washington, D.C.-based communications consulting firm. She also works with Finsbury Consulting.
