Ford Motor Co.’s sales in China fell 30% last month to fewer than 47,500 vehicles compared with February 2017.
Analysts attribute the drop-off in large part to Ford’s aging product lineup in China. There also were a fewer number of working days this February because of China’s late lunar new year holiday.
When the results of the first two months are combined, Ford’s sales still dropped 23% year on year. Last month the company cautioned that 2018 would be a “bumpy ride” until new products arrive.
Ford plans to launch more than 50 new or significantly redesigned vehicles in China by 2025, including a host of new SUVs and electrified vehicles. The first batch of vehicles is due this spring but won’t hit dealerships until later this year and early 2019.
