Ford Motor Co. says it will suspend production of its B-Max small MPV in Craiova, Romania, for seven days this month to match weak market demand.

The plant normally makes 370 vehicles and about 1,000 engines per day. Ford says the facility's 2,500 workers will temporarily receive 80% of their normal pay.

The company's sales across Europe fell 7% to 778,100 units through July, compared with a 5% decline to 10.38 million for the market overall. Ford reports that B-Max sales in the region over that period slipped less than 1% to 43,900 vehicles.
