Ford to Hike N. America Output 10% in Third Quarter

Ford Motor Co. plans to build 740,000 vehicles in North America in the July-September period compared with about 673,000 a year earlier.

The third-quarter production plan includes Ford's previously announced additions of 40,000 vehicles by halving its summer shutdown to one week and 200,000 units from expanded capacity starting this autumn.

The company says it still expects to produce 800,000 vehicles in the current quarter.
