Ford Motor Co. plans to introduce its Lincoln luxury car brand in China for the first time through 60 dealerships in 50 cities over a two-year rollout that will begin this autumn.
The company will start with the MKZ midsize sedan and MKC small crossover and gradually expand to five models that include the Lincoln Navigator large SUV. All will be imported until volume grows enough to justify local production.
Ford says it will create an extraordinarily personalized environment for shoppers with a tea room, waterfall, plush seating areas and hosts to help visitors browse through vehicle options. Lincolns will be imbued with a scent considered more pleasing to Chinese consumers than the traditional new-car smell.
