Ford Motor Co. reports its vehicle sales fell 21% to 90,500 units in March and 19% to 255,300 units through the first three months of 2017.
The company attributes the decline to a reduction in China’s purchase tax incentive in January and its pull-ahead effect, which caused a jump in sales in December.
Bright spots for Ford in China last month include a 14% increase in Taurus sedan sales, a 53% surge in deliveries of the Everest SUV (a variant of the Explorer) and a 3% gain for its Jiangling Motor Corp. commercial vehicle venture.
