Ford Motor Co. is recalling 52,600 of its 2017-model F-250 pickup trucks in North America because they could roll away after the transmission is shifted into Park.
The callback targets only trucks equipped with 6.2-liter V-8 gasoline engines. Ford says a damaged part could prevent the mechanism that locks the gearbox in Park from working properly. Unless the vehicle’s parking brake is set, the truck could then move unexpectedly.
Ford reports no accidents or injuries. Dealers will inspect and replace the park rod actuating plate if necessary to cure the problem.
