The group, which includes the Smart Mobility subsidiary Ford formed in early 2016, has team members in China, India, Michigan, Silicon Valley and elsewhere. Among the other personnel are specialists in information technology, data and analytics.
The team is responsible for the purchase, development and implementation of ridesharing services, autonomous fleet management and other emerging technologies and services. One of the team’s goals is to better integrate vehicle development cycles with digital service programs, says Marcy Klevorn, Ford’s president of mobility,
Klevorn tells a conference in New York City that the carmaker is well positioned “to really make an impact” with its Autonomic mobility platform, Chariot shuttle service and FordPass app. She adds, "It's just a matter of assembling these pieces quickly and kicking out product."
