Ford Launches U.K. Scrappage Plan for Pre-2010 Cars

Ford Motor Co. is offering customers who scrap a car that is more than 7 years old £2,000 ($2,600) toward the purchase of a new vehicle.

Unlike programs recently launched by BMW and Daimler specifically to scrap old diesels, Ford’s program accepts both diesel and gasoline-powered vehicles.

Ford is offering the same amount for new models that retail anywhere between £12,000 and £20,000 ($15,500-$25,800). The company says combining the scrappage offer with other incentives could reduce the purchase price by as much as £4,000 for car and £7,000 for vans.
