Ford Motor Co. has set up a $1 million plan that will award five $10,000 scholarships in automotive design scholarships per year over the next two decades.

The program commemorates William Clay Ford, who chaired the company's design committee for 32 years. He died last Sunday at age 88.

The scholarships will go to college sophomores and juniors who are pursuing a degree in automotive design. The company will release details about the program and application requirements later.
