Ford Motor Co. says Raj Nair, an executive vice president and president of its North American business, has been fired after an internal investigation into reports of “inappropriate behavior.”
Ford did not offer details, except to say that certain aspects of Nair’s behavior were “inconsistent” with the company’s code of conduct. CEO Hackett says the decision to dismiss Nair followed a “thorough review and careful consideration.”
Nair acknowledges and says he regrets circumstances in which he failed to exhibit “leadership behaviors consistent” with Ford principles. Hackett says the carmaker is committed to providing employees a “safe and respectful culture.”
Nair joined Ford in 1987 as a vehicle launch engineer. He was named head of global product development and chief technical officer in 2015. He was promoted to president of Ford North America last June.
Ford says Nair’s successor will be announced soon.
