Sales of Ford passenger vehicles soared 135% to 44,400 units in January, fueled by strong demand for the Focus compact car. Commercial vehicle deliveries jumped 42% to 17,100 units.
Ford introduced the Kuga small SUV in China last month and plans to add the locally-made EcoSport mini SUV in March. The vehicles are part of the company's plan to launch 15 new models in China by 2015.
