Ford Motor Co. plans next year to introduce 23 new or updated models worldwide, open two factories in Asia and one in South America and add more than 11,000 jobs worldwide.

The new-model rollout schedule, which includes 16 launches in the U.S., will be the largest in Ford history.

The new facilities expected to open in 2014 are a transmission plant and 300,000-unit vehicle assembly facility in Changan, China, and an engine plant at the company's vehicle production complex in Camacari, Brazil.

Ford says it will hire more than 6,000 people in Asia next year, most of them hourly employees, and more than 5,000 people in the U.S., two-thirds of them salaried workers.
