Jason Luo, who joined Ford Motor Co. last September to head the company’s China operations, has left the company due to undisclosed personal reasons.

Peter Fleet, group vice president and president of Ford Pacific Asia, will assume Luo's duties until a permanent replacement is named. Ford notes that Luo helped accelerate its electric vehicle and smart mobility strategies during his short tenure and says his departure is not related to the company’s strategy or performance.

Luo previously was CEO of Key Safety Systems Inc., which was acquired by China’s Ningbo Joyson Electric Corp. in 2016. He led the Michigan-based company’s purchase of bankrupt airbag supplier Takata Corp. that was completed shortly after his departure.

At the time, Key indicated personal family matters in China had prompted his move to Ford.
