Two high-profile Silicon Valley executives hired by Ford Motor Co. are leaving the company.
Chief Brand Officer Musa Tariq, who joined the carmaker 15 months ago, quit this week. His duties will be assumed by Joy Falotico, Ford’s chief marketing officer until a successor is named.
Ford hired Tariq, now 35, to help differentiate the Ford brand and reposition the carmaker as a mobility company. He joined Ford from Apple Inc., where he was global marketing and communications director. Previously he directed social media activities for shoemaker Nike Inc.
Raj Rao, who has served as CEO of the company’s Ford Smart Mobility subsidiary for the past two years, is leaving on May 1. Rao formerly ran 3M Co.’s digital innovation center and Internet-of-Things projects in Redwood, Calif.
Ford Smart Mobility was created to manage the carmaker’s investments and other efforts to participate in emerging mobility services. The group has since been restructured and now focuses primarily upon vehicle connectivity features and Ford’s Chariot on-demand shuttle service.
