Floods to Halt Porsche Cayenne Production

Volkswagen AG's Porsche unit says it will stop building the Cayenne luxury SUV at its plant in Leipzig, Germany, on Wednesday because flooding in the region has interrupted parts deliveries.

Floodwaters have halted rail shipments of components made in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Parts shortages also will halt final assembly of the Porsche Panamera sport sedan at the Leipzig factory. But pre-assembly work will continue there, the company says. The facility usually produces 450 vehicles per day on three shifts.

BMW, which makes its 1 Series in Leipzig, says its operations there have not been affected by the floods.
