California-based Fisker Inc. has hired Don Jackson as a senior advisor to lead the company’s manufacturing strategy, including selecting a production site in the U.S.

Jackson, who owns a consulting service specializing in lean manufacturing, previously headed Volkswagen of America’s manufacturing operations in Chattanooga, Tenn. He also was president of quality and production for Toyota’s U.S. plants.

Fisker is evaluating potential sites in about a dozen states. The company aims to launch production of an electric SUV/crossover vehicle by the end of 2021, and also is planning a high-end sedan called the EMotion.

The crossover is expected to be priced below $40,000, while the sedan will sticker for more than three times that much. Fisker released a new teaser image (pictured) of the vehicle this week.
