In Europe, the group's car and commercial vehicle registrations last month slid 12% to 61,000 units and 8% to 12,000 units, respectively. Group car volume tumbled 16% to 34,100 units in Italy. The company sold only 200 cars in Russia.

North American group sales climbed 14% year over year to 142,300 vehicles in January. Demand for the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram brands grew 16% to 117,700 units in the U.S. and 2% to 16,700 units in Canada. Fiat-Chrysler volume advanced 12% to 7,500 vehicles in Mexico.

Latin American group sales jumped 28% to 88,800 vehicles last month, thanks to a 36% surge to 71,200 units in Brazil.

Fiat-Chrysler volume in Asia Pacific soared 84% year over year to 13,300 vehicles in January. Sales in China rose to 8,800 units from 3,300 units a year earlier. In India, group demand dropped by 400 units to total 500 vehicles.
