FCA Plans “Detailed” Analysis of Magneti Marelli Spinoff

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV says that it will conduct a detailed review in April-June of the merits of spinning off its Magneti Marelli partsmaking unit.
Reports of a possible sale date to 2015, when FCA reportedly sought at least €3 billion ($3.7 billion) for the company. Samsung Electronics Co. expressed interest a year later about buying at least part of the business. But talks were suspended in October of 2016.
CEO Sergio Marchionne told reporters last October that FCA intended to spin off the unit as an independent listed company sometime this year.
The carmaker cautions that it may decide against any action. It also says it won’t comment further until a decision occurs.
