Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has denied a Nikkei report that it is close to phasing out its slow-selling Chrysler brand in Japan.

FCA notes it announced previously that it will focus its marketing resources in Japan on the company’s lineup of Jeep SUVs. But the company says “no decision have been made” about Chrysler.

Japan’s entire import-car market accounts for less than 10% of total volume, and almost all those vehicles are German marques. Last year FCA sold a few hundred Chrysler-branded vehicles in Japan, where the company’s only model offered is the 300 large sedan.
