Fiat Chrysler Automobiles says it will join U.S. rivals General Motors and Ford switching from monthly to quarterly sales reports this year.

FCA will report monthly sales through June, then switch to quarterly results in October. All three companies say monthly reports are too sensitive to disruptions such as weather or new-model launches that can skew results. They said the same thing in the 1990s when they abandoned then-standard 10-day reports.

Foreign carmakers, whose sales volume represents more than half the total U.S. market, so far have not indicated whether they also will drop their monthly sales announcements.
