Ford Motor Co. has turned over to the FBI the business e-mail account of fired engineer Sharon Leach, who admits hiding eight listening devices in Ford conference rooms, The Detroit News reports.
Leach was fired after admitting planting listening devices, saying she did so to help her take better notes at meetings. She has not been charged with a crime, but Ford asked the FBI to assist with the investigation.
Ford tells the News that contrary to initial reports, the bugs were found at the company's research and innovation center in Dearborn, Mich., and not inside the company's headquarters building nearby.
FBI agents searched Leach's home three weeks ago. They seized her personal e-mail account, four laptop computers, a desktop computer, eight listening devices and assorted records and documents, according to the News.
