Faurecia SA has opened a second vehicle seating factory in Morocco and plans to open a third in the country in 2018.
The French supplier’s second factory, an $18 million facility in Salé, will create 1,300 jobs and have capacity to make 10,000 fabric and leather seat covers per day. The facility will supply the components for PSA Group’s Peugeot 3008 small crossover and 5008 compact minivan. Both models are produced in France.
Faurecia says it intends to open a third Moroccan factory in Kenitra next year that will support its interiors and "clean mobility” businesses. The company, which also operates a factory in Tunisia, describes itself as North Africa’s largest maker of automotive seat covers.
