Registrations of new commercial trucks in Europe totaled 275,100 units last month compared with 249,400 vehicles in March 2016, according to ACEA.

Sales volume last month dipped 1% to 69,700 trucks in the U.K. But year-on-year sales rose sharply in France (+14% to 49,800 units), Germany (+17% to 37,500), Spain (+24% to 21,900) and Italy (+17% to 20,000).

Market growth in March was defined by an increase of 11% to 232,700 light commercial vehicles. Heavy-truck deliveries gained 7% to 30,800 units.

The industry trade group says much of last month's 10% increase was due to the timing of the Easter holiday, which reduced sales in March 2016 but didn’t occur until April this year.
