Sales of premium-level SUVs and crossovers in Europe are on the rise again after slipping 5% to 584,700 units in 2013.
LMC Automotive tells Automotive News Europe that demand will reach about 895,000 units in 2016 and surpass 1 million by 2020.
LMC says growth will be driven in part by a proliferation of new models in the segment from BMW, Bentley, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
ANE notes that carmakers are rapidly expanding their SUV/crossover lineups with more sizes, styles and price points. In some cases, it adds, small luxury SUVs have been stealing sales from their larger siblings.
