The European Commission has ended its investigation of whether the Germany's plan to give Volkswagen AG €84 million in subsidies violated EU anti-competition rules.
The EC also dropped its probe of a proposed €27 million German government loan to help Canadian auto supplier Linamar Corp. build a new factory in in the state of Saxony.
The commission says those reviews ceased when Germany decided to cut financing for both companies to unspecified levels that don't require EU authorization.
