Two domestic makes the Cadillac ATS sport sedan and Dodge Ram 1500 large pickup truck have been chosen 2013 North American Car of the Year and North American Truck/Utility of the Year.
The ATS scored 207 points to surpass the Honda Accord (159) and Ford Fusion (124) sedans. The Ram, with 261 points, easily outdistanced the Mazda CX-5 (142) and Ford C-Max (87) small crossovers.
Two foreign models, the Hyundai Elantra small sedan and Land Rover's Range Rover Evoque, captured the awards in 2012.
The winners were chosen by a panel of 49 automotive journalists in the U.S. and Canada from a field of new or significantly updated vehicles. Contenders won points based on such factors as comfort, design, handling, safety and value.
