Denso Corp. Is opening a new research and development center in Tokyo in April that will focus on advanced driver assistance systems, automated driving and connected vehicles.
The facility will have an initial staff of about 200 people, some of whom will be transferred from other Denso facilities in Japan. Denso says the center is part of its plan to decentralize development to better meet local needs, foster innovation and bring new technologies to market faster.
The Tokyo facility will oversee Denso’s other regional r&d hubs to coordinate the company’s resources and strategies. The new center also will collaborate with universities, research institutes, startups and other partners worldwide.
