Denso Corp.’s Nsitexe Inc. subsidiary has acquired an unspecified stake in Quadric.io, a Burlingame, Calif.-based startup that specializes in so-called “edge” computing.

Emerging edge-computing systems push processing and analytic functions to sensors and other data sources rather than centralized nodes. Nsitexe plans to use Quadric’s technology for next-generation autonomous driving systems.

Formed in 2017, Nsitexe develops advanced semiconductors for automated driving and other emerging technologies. The company claims its data flow processor system, which it aims to launch early next decade, can perform multiple complex calculations faster—and with less power consumption—than current processors.
