General Motors Co. has ordered its U.S. dealers to suspend deliveries of Chevrolet Cruze sedans that are fitted with 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec engines. The $18,000 Cruze is GM's best-selling car in the U.S.
GM hasn't given dealers a reason for the freeze. Nor is it clear how many vehicles are involved or whether the action may signal an upcoming safety recall.
The Cruze is offered in the U.S. with a choice of two other engines in addition to the 1.4-liter unit: a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine and a 2.0-liter diesel.
