Daimler AG intends to spend €300 million over the next five years to further expand output at its Mitsubishi Fuso and Daimler India commercial truck operations in Asia. The Wall Street Journal reports.

Daimler said previously that it aims to boost commercial vehicle assembly capacity controlled by its Daimler Trucks Asia unit to 290,000 vehicles by 2020. The company markets trucks in the region under the Fuso and BharatBenz brands.

In June Daimler began exporting trucks made at its €700 million factory outside Chennai, India. The company plans to expand the facility's shipments to 15 markets in Asia and Africa next year.
