Daimler AG and Renault SA say they are in early stages of talks about building large vans together.
The companies already co-produce small vans at Renault's assembly plant in Maubeuge, France, and market them as the Renault Kangoo and Mercedes-Benz Citan.
Daimler currently makes large vans with Volkswagen AG in a venture that expires at the end of 2016. VW said earlier that it will develop its next-generation large van solo.
La Tribune speculates that a Daimler-Renault venture could make big vans at one of the French carmaker's domestic plants. Renault says it has not discussed site options with Daimler.
