Daimler AG says it will invest €1.5 billion over the next six years to upgrade its big manufacturing complex in Sindelfingen, Germany.

The decision comes after the plant's workers agreed to more flexible work rules. Daimler estimates the changes will save at least €100 million, especially when new models are phased in and old ones are phased out.

Upgrades at the complex will include new body and paint shops, a new logistics center and an additional production line for the company's next-generation E-Class sedans.

Sindelfingen produces the CLS coupe, current generation E-Class sedan and the next-generation S-Class large sedan.
