Daimler AG has appointed Harald Wilhelm to its management board as its chief financial officer, effective April 1.

He will join the board on April 1 but not assume responsibilities for corporate finance and controlling, and Daimler Financial Services, until the company’s annual shareholder meeting on May 22. He has a three-year contract as CFO.

Wilhelm succeeds Bodo Uebber, who has been Daimler’s CFO since the end of 2004. Uebber opted not to extend his current contract, which expires at the end of this year. He will formally step down on May 22 and is expected to become chairman of industrial giant Thyssenkrupp AG.

Wilhelm currently is CFO and a member of the executive committee for European aerospace giant Airbus SE. He joined Airbus 18 years ago from DaimlerChrysler Aerospace, where he helped integrate Airbus into a single company.
