Daimler AG and Nissan Motor Co. have begun making turbocharged 4-cylinder engines at a joint-venture U.S. factory in Tennessee.
The €234 million facility eventually will produce six variations of the 2.0-liter engine, which was designed by Daimler and uses major components supplied by the company from Germany.
The first of the engines will go to Daimler's plant in Alabama for C-Class Mercedes-Benz sedans assembled there for the American market and to Japan for installation in the Infiniti Q50 sedan.
