Daimler AG plans another round of longer or extra work shifts in 2014 to meet demand for several of its models.
The company has been extending shifts since November to boost output of C-Class and S-Class sedans and GLK SUVs in Europe and ML- and GL-Class crossovers and R-Class MPVs in the U.S.
Daimler says the expansions this year have extended per-day production by about 30 minutes for S-Class output in Sindelfingen. The plant's Works Council has approved another extension for 2014 that will add 74 minutes of production per day. Daimler adds that its powertrain plants have been working weekend shifts all year.
