Cybersecurity Firm to Spin Off Auto Unit

Wilmington, Mass.-based Security Innovation Inc. is spinning off its SI-Embedded automotive business unit to form a new company called OnBoard Security Inc.

Wilmington, Mass.-based Security Innovation Inc. is spinning off its SI-Embedded automotive business unit as a new company to be named OnBoard Security Inc.

The company says it expects to complete the divestiture by the end of March. Peter Samson, who currently is senior vice president for SI-Embedded, will head OnBoard Security.

The new company will continue to market SI-Embedded’s Aerolink vehicle-to-vehicle security libraries, cryptography algorithms and related software systems and platforms. It also will provide consulting services for security related to autonomous and connected vehicles, infrastructure systems and the Internet of Things.

Security Innovation was formed in 2002. In addition to the transportation market, the company provides cybersecurity systems, services and training to information technology, finance and insurance, retail and hospitality, healthcare and government customers.
