Cooper-Standard Holdings Inc., parent of Cooper-Standard Automotive, has appointed President and CEO Jeffrey Edwards to the additional job of chairman, effective immediately.

Edwards joined the Novi, Mich.-based company in October from Johnson Controls Inc., where he headed its Asia automotive unit. He succeeded James McElya, who retired as president and CEO at that time.

McElya, who steered Cooper-Standard through bankruptcy in 2009-2010, stepped down as chairman this month.

Cooper-Standard reported last week that its net income declined to $21 million in the first quarter of 2013 from $24 million a year earlier. Revenue dipped 2% to $748 million.
