Commercial Vehicle Sales in Europe Rise 4%

Registrations of commercials vans, trucks and buses across Europe climbed to 150,500 units last month from 144,400 units in April 2012, according to regional carmaker group ACEA.

Registrations of commercials vans, trucks and buses across Europe climbed to 150,500 units last month from 144,400 units in April 2012, according to regional carmaker group ACEA.

April deliveries of commercial vehicles surged 30% year on year to 24,700 units in the U.K., grew 4% to 27,100 units in Germany and advanced 7% to 8,000 units in Spain. Demand slid 4% to 36,800 units in France and 20% to 9,200 units in Italy.

Across Europe, sales last month increased 6% to 122,800 units for light commercial vehicles, fell 5% to 25,000 units for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and slipped 3% to 2,600 units for buses.

In the first four months of this year, Europe's registrations of all commercial vehicles dropped 7% from a year earlier to 569,600 units.
