Commercial Truck Sales Jump 9% in Europe

Retail sales of commercial vehicles across Europe climbed 9% to 238,800 trucks and buses in May, according to trade group ACEA.

The surge boosted sales 7% to 1.14 million vehicles through the first five months of 2019.

In May, registrations in Germany zoomed 25% to 39,500 units. Monthly sales also grew year on year in France (+13% to 47,600 units), the U.K. (+5% to 34,300), Spain (+2% to 23,300) and Italy (+5% to 20,000).

Europe’s light commercial vehicle market expanded 6% to 193,700 units last month, ACEA says. Demand for medium- and heavy-duty trucks climbed 21% to 40,600 vehicles. Sales of commercial buses rose 24% to 4,500 units.
