Commercial Truck Sales Jump 11% in Europe

The increase follows year-on-year growth of 7% to 206,200 units in July. Volume through the first eight months of 2019 totaled 1.80 million vehicles compared with 1.69 million in the same period last year.
August results showed hefty gains in Germany (+13% to 37,900 units), the U.K. (+30% to 25,800) and Italy (+2% to 11,100). Sales declined in France (-2% to 29,500 trucks) and Spain (-3% to 16,700).
ACEA notes that results for July also were mixed. Volume slipped 1% to 16,900 trucks. But monthly volume grew in France (+10% to 43,700 vehicles), Germany (+12% to 33,700) and Spain (+2% to 21,700).
