Commercial Truck Sales in Europe Rise 5%

Demand for commercial trucks and buses across Europe grew to 187,900 units in February from 179,500 units a year earlier, reports trade group ACEA.

Demand for commercial trucks and buses across Europe grew to 187,900 units in February from 179,500 units a year earlier, reports trade group ACEA.

Volume rose in almost all markets. Gains were led by France (+7% to 42,800 vehicles), Germany (+15% to 30,400), Italy (+4% to 17,300) and the U.K. (+1% to 17,300). Sales fell in Spain (-4% to 18,800 trucks).

ACEA says deliveries of light commercial vehicles (no more than 3.5 tonnes), which account for 83% of the total market, grew 4% to 155,400 units. Sales of medium and heavy trucks expanded 6% to 29,700 rigs. Bus sales advanced 4% to 2,800 vehicles.
