Coming Soon to a Factory Near You: Temp Scanners
How do you know your employees don’t have elevated temps?
One of the issues related to bringing people back into manufacturing plants is the need for COVID-19 screening. Let’s face it: There are hundreds of employees required in many factories, and screening could cause bottlenecks that can challenge social distancing unless it is performed efficiently—and accurately.

One company has developed a system that it says is capable of measuring the body temperatures of up to 40 people simultaneously, providing a measurement within ±0.54 degrees Fahrenheit. Results are obtained in 30 milliseconds.
Should a person’s temp be elevated, there is a notification system that provides audible, visual, email, SMS text, onscreen alerts, and network video capture.
It is called the DuThermX, and it comes from Dubak Electrical Group, a LaGrange, Illinois-based company that is primarily in the business of industrial electrical construction and maintenance of industrial electrical, HVACR, control, and automation systems.
According to Danny Vujovic, the company’s vice president of Engineering, “Safety has always been central to what we do. So we tapped the thousands of R&D as well as years of installation experience to develop a system that accounts for the dynamic conditions of personnel scanning, traffic flow, facility requirements, and changing environmental impact.”
Cameras in factories are nothing new.
But body temperature measurement systems certainly are.
