Chrysler to Add Small Van from Fiat

Chrysler Group LLC says its Ram truck unit will introduce a small commercial van next year to compete in the American market with Ford Motor Co.'s Transit Connect.

The 2015 Ram ProMaster City had been expected this year. When Fiat SpA announced plans for the little van two years ago, it forecast annual sales of about 21,000 units.

The new truck is a variant of Fiat's popular Doblo van and will feature Ram external styling cues with interior features and unspecified powertrains tailored to the North American market.

The ProMaster City will be supplied from Turkey by Fiat's Tofas joint venture with Koc Holding AS there. Koc also operates a separate venture that builds the Transit Connect vans sold by Ford in the U.S.
