Chrysler Group is preparing to launch two recalls to improve transmission shift performance in 19,500 cars and brake pedal feel in 25,300 SUVs. Neither problem has resulted in crashes or injuries, according to the company.
The first campaign involves 2014 model Fiat 500L minicars equipped with dual-clutch automatic gearboxes. Chrysler says a software adjustment will eliminate reported balky shifts out of park and between intended gears.
The second recall covers 2012-2013 model Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs worldwide.
Dealers will reprogram software that controls brake fluid flow for a system that primes that brakes for quicker response when making an abrupt stop. Chrysler says the pre-braking system performs as designed but has resulted in an unusual pedal feel that will be eliminated by the update.
