Chrysler Group is in the early stages of developing a power retractable top for its next-generation Jeep Wrangler, according to Road & Track.
The iconic Jeep model currently is offered with a heavy hard top that takes two people to remove and a soft top that must be manually retracted. R&T opines that the power top, if introduced at all, is likely to be a pricy niche option.
The magazine says the next iteration of the Wrangler also may drop its folding windshield and rear-mounted spare tire, the former to reduce complexity and the latter to cut vehicle weight.
R&T notes that no decisions have been made on any of the possible changes, in part because the next-generation Wrangler is still years away from production.
